mediation

A Path to Resolution on your terms

Mediation is one of the most effective ways to resolve family law issues without the cost, stress, and uncertainty of court. At Grey Family Law, we use an understanding-based approach, helping you and the other party have constructive conversations that foster empathy, clarity, and practical solutions.

In mediation, you stay in control—not a judge or opposing attorney. The process is voluntary and confidential, and as neutral mediators, we do not make decisions or give legal advice. Instead, we facilitate meaningful discussions, help you explore creative solutions, and provide legal education so you can make informed choices that work for your family.

Why Choose Mediation?

  • Less Stress, Less Cost – Avoid the emotional and financial toll of litigation.

  • Faster Resolution – Mediation often moves much quicker than court proceedings.

  • More Control – You decide the outcome, rather than leaving it in the hands of a judge.

  • Better Long-Term Outcomes – Agreements made through mutual understanding are more likely to last.

We help clients navigate child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, and parentage matters. If you’re ready to explore a cooperative and cost-effective way forward, contact us today to learn more or set up a consultation.

Protecting Your Future with Clarity and Confidence

uncontested adoptions

helping you grow your family with confidence

Cases We Do Not Handle

We do not take adoption cases involving:

  • ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) matters

  • Immigration-related issues

  • Criminal background complications

If your case involves any of these factors, we are happy to refer you to other qualified adoption attorneys who can help.

Adopting a child is a deeply meaningful experience, but the legal process can feel overwhelming. At Grey Family Law, we’re here to guide you through every step.  We handle all the paperwork, file the necessary court forms, guide you through any required investigations or hearings, and help you obtain a new birth certificate reflecting your legal parentage. With our support, you can move forward with confidence, knowing everything is handled correctly.

Adult Adoptions

If you want to legally recognize an existing parent-child bond with someone over 18, an adult adoption can provide important benefits. It can solidify your relationship, assist with estate planning, and even allow the adopted adult to access benefits such as health insurance. Because no investigations are required, adult adoptions are typically finalized much faster than other types of adoptions.

Second Parent (Confirmatory) Adoptions

If you and your spouse or registered domestic partner had a child using assisted reproductive technology, a second parent (or confirmatory) adoption ensures that your parental rights are legally recognized. This streamlined process requires no court investigations or hearings, making it a quick and efficient way to protect your family’s legal status.

If you were not married or registered when your child was born, you may need to go through the traditional step-parent adoption process instead.

Step-Parent Adoptions

For step-parents who want to formally adopt their step-child, a step-parent adoption creates a legal parent-child relationship. At Grey Family Law, we only handle uncontested step-parent adoptions—meaning both biological parents and the step-parent agree to the adoption, or one biological parent is deceased. This ensures a smoother, faster, and less stressful process.
