About Maya K. Grey
Maya has been certified by the California State Bar as a specialist in family law. She excels in helping individuals navigate some of the most difficult and painful experiences of their lives. Her specialties are one-on-one consultations, where she offers support for people in mediation, those seeking second opinions, individuals wanting to handle family law matters on their own, and people wanting assistance with pre-marital and post-marital agreements. She handles all issues related to divorce, legal separation, and parentage actions, including matters related to child custody, child support, spousal support, and complex property division. She believes that the best and most cost-efficient outcome is when a negotiated settlement can be reached outside of court, which helps her clients avoid litigation unless it is necessary. Maya tells her clients what they need to hear in order to help them achieve the best results for their case.
Maya is also a divorce mediator who specializes in educating parties about the law, while at the same time supporting their freedom to create their own solutions. She completed an intensive 40-hour mediation training with the Center for Understanding in Conflict and is a volunteer mediator for the Contra Costa County Family Court Volunteer Mediator Settlement Program. Maya's goal is to empower her clients to reach agreements that meet both their own individual interests and their shared goals while remaining informed of their legal rights.

Additionally, Maya helps families looking for assistance with uncontested adoptions. She completed the rigorous ALTO (Adoption Law Training Online) program under the guidance of preeminent adoption attorneys Alison Foster Davis and Douglas Donnelly. Maya finds great satisfaction in helping her clients complete the adoption process and the joy that comes with welcoming a new family member.
Maya graduated from the University of San Francisco (USF) School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2012. During law school, she was the president of the Equal Justice Society and had internships at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, the USF Child Advocacy Clinic, Legal Aid of Marin, and Metoyer Law Offices. She was also the recipient of the 2009 USF Women Lawyer’s Committee Scholarship for Transitional Students and the 2011 Wiley W. Manuel Award.
Prior to founding her own firm in 2020, Maya practiced for over 7 years at the highly respected firm Blum, Gibbs, Davies & Owen, LLP. She is a member of the Alameda County Bar and the Contra Costa County Bar Associations.
Maya taught second and third grade for 5 years prior to attending law school. She received both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters in Education from UCLA.
Maya speaks French and has traveled to more than 25 countries around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, dancing, watching Netflix, reading books, and listening to music and podcasts.
